Jackson and Karinja, better known as + jacksonkarinja, have been shooting together since the beginning. With Jackson hailing from costal Mexico and Karinja from New York City, the two met at the start of their careers. Both came up in the crews of New York, working their way through the camera and lighting departments respectively, until both became established as cinematographers shooting commercials, music videos, and feature films. Throughout that time, Jackson and Karinja consistently shot and collaborated on their films together, often shooting as a pair.

In 2008, the two teamed up and made it official as they began directing and shooting under the name + jacksonkarinja. The duo hasn’t looked back since and has made films for clients including Converse, Ubisoft, Nike, Kia, and Citroen. They still shoot their own films and look to bring their unique style that is + jacksonkarinja to all of their work. Jackson and Karinja both currently live in Brooklyn and the + in their directing name stands for their crew and all of the awesome people that are a very special part of the films they make.
